This past New Year’s was spent working like a mad woman preparing for one of the biggest events of the year, the New Year’s Eve party. Needless to say, that became my main priority versus my friends and family. Living in Las Vegas and working in a casino on the Strip means sacrificing major holidays, since the city doesn’t run itself (insane, I know).
I decided that I had to round up my gang of gals over for a wine and cheese night, because why not? We love both wine AND cheese platters and they are even better together. I went to my nearest Trader Joe’s and picked up the essentials:
c h e e s e
Brie
Gouda
Parmigiano
Roquefort
Goat
m e a t s
Prosciutto
Capicola
Salame
f r u i t
Strawberries
Apples
Grapes
Blackberries
w i n e s
Sauvignon Blanc
Pinot Noir
Merlot
Riesling
Chardonnay
n u t s
Almonds
Cashews
Pecans
e s s e n t i a l s
Assortment of crackers
French baguette
Cheese knife
Bread knife
Wine glasses
Cork screw
Olives
Honey &/or jam
p r e s e n t a t i o n
The cutest platters
Remikins or mason jars
Once I put it all together, my cheese + meat + fruit platter was to die for. It was actually fun putting together all of these flavors that combine so well on a platter as well as satisfies all of our taste buds. Adding the good company and wine made the evening all the more fun.
For your own wine and cheese night, you can choose as little or as many cheeses and wines as you wish! The best part about wine and cheese parings is that many wines can pair with many different cheeses quite harmoniously. I took to Pinterest for assistance in pairing the wines with the cheeses.
Shout out to Mama for helping me pick up a few things here and there!
